New rumours about Demi Lovato’s sexual orientation have emerged after she was spotted holding hands with another woman.

On September 11, Twitter user @Carolyn6574 made the initial spot of the singer at Disneyland in Los Angeles and promptly tweeted that Lovato was holding hands with another woman.

According to Perez Hilton, the woman in question is Lauren Abedini, a DJ and producer that some people now believe to be Lovato’s girlfriend.

In the wake of this news, many people took to Twitter to demonstrate their enthusiastic reactions to the possibility that Lovato may not be heterosexual.

Many of the tweets referenced Lovato as being instrumental in their own gay awakenings.

Lovato has always resisted attempts to label her sexual orientation.

The singer has told People: “It’s something I don’t think needs to have a label: As humans, It’s just about a connection with someone.”

However, she has always been coy about the lyrics to her song Cool for the Summer, which many say has Sapphic undertones.

The song’s lyrics include: “Got a taste for the cherry / I just need to take a bite”, and “I’m a little curious, too / tell me if it’s wrong, if it’s right / I don’t care / I can keep a secret, can you?”

When Alan Carr asked whether the song was about same-sex relationships, Lovato said: “I’m not confirming, and I’m definitely not denying.”

She then added: “All of my songs are based off of personal experiences.

“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with experimentation at all.”

The GLAAD award winner recently hit back at veiled criticism from bisexual singer Halsey, who criticised the link between experimentation and bisexuality.

Halsey referenced ‘Cool for the Summer’ lyrics “don’t tell your mother/Kiss one another,” in an interview with PAPER magazine.

Halsey argued that narratives such as “don’t tell your mum” were damaging to bisexuals.
