Sam Smith has revealed the details of his new single.

The Oscar winning singer is set to release new music after a three year hiatus.

In The Lonely Hour, released in 2014, became the best-selling album of the year in the UK, while it sold more than any other British artist for two decades.

Now the gay singer has revealed the exact details of his return to music.

He revealed the new single, which is yet to be played publicly, will be called Too Good At Goodbyes.

Taking to Facebook, he wrote: “‘Too Good At Goodbyes’. 8th September 2017. So excited for you to hear the new single… you all xx”

The name of the new album, which Smith says will be released “very, very, very soon” is not yet known.

However fans have speculated online that it is due to be titled TPH-50HR, named after the childhood home he grew up in.

Last week he sent an email to fans to reveal news of the new work.

“First of all I want to say thank you,” he wrote.

“Thank you for being so patient and for letting me have the past year to really escape into my mind & write music so freely.

“I feel so rejuvenated and have so many stories I can’t wait to tell you.”

The British recording artist continued: “The wait is so nearly over. Something is coming very very very very soon.

“I am scared & excited at the same time. I’ve poured my soul & heart into this record.”
