Netflix has confirmed that Stranger Things 2 will be released on 27 October, just in time for Halloween. It had originally been thought it might have been released on the 31st.
Is there a trailer?
There sure is – it shows the whole gang back together with Will, who has a vision of the Upside Down. It also features Eleven, who appears to break through from the other world as well as other fan favourites such as Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers.

Is there a poster?
Yep, the official poster is here:
The Stranger Things social media accounts have also been sharing vintage-style posters such as these:
What’s the best way to watch it?
According to the Duffer Brothers, creators of the show, the best way to adjust your device to watch Stranger Things 2 will be to turn off any setting with the word ‘motion’ like ‘Trumotion’ or ‘Smooth motion’.
Is the cast the same?
The whole gang is back together, and the trailer has already shown that Eleven will return.
Sadly Barb will not, and is definitely dead as confirmed by actor Shannon Purser who player her in season one at San Diego Comic Con.
Winona Ryder will return as Joyce Byers and David Harbour as Sheriff Hooper, who is set to go on a “classic hero journey”, according to Harbour.
Nancy and Jonathan will also return and will be joined by new characters Billy and Max, played by Dacre Montgomery and Sadie Sink. Bob will also be played by Sean Astin.
So what do we know about the story so far?
Netflix released a series of new posters featuring different characters, and a number of cryptic messages.
It reads: “We’re going back to Hawkins.
“A place where the curiosity door never closes.
“A place where new adventures await us.
“And it’s only getting stranger.”
We know that the show is set in 1984 and takes us back to Hawkins, where according to the trailer, the upside down is still there and the lab is still active with the rift to the other dimension.
A giant monster appears to be engulfing Hawkins on the poster, but has not yet been given a name – Will appears to see the creature in his vision of the Upside Down when the boys play computer games at an arcade.
A cleanup is set to take place with new characters arriving in Hawkins to do just that. Will is shown hooked up to several machines in a hospital gown later in the trailer.
Showrunners have said that the new season will be “bigger and darker” than the first, and that it will feel like a sequel.
They upside down is also set to play a much bigger role.
Netflix released a synopsis which reads: “A year after Will’s return, everything seems back to normal… but a darkness lurks just beneath the surface, threatening all of Hawkins.”
Matt Duffer told Entertainment Weekly: “So it seems like he’s having some sort of post-traumatic stress disorder,” about Will.
Joyce is also dating high school classmate Bob, played by Sean Astin, in order to have a more stable home for her sons.
“I think she’s made this choice with Bob because she wants a good father figure in her sons’ lives,” says Ryder.
David Harbour who plays Hopper will try and keep some of the secrets of Season one in order to protect Joyce.
“It kind of falls on Hopper to be the voice of authority to say, ‘This did happen and this didn’t happen,’” says Harbour.
“He’s struggling with the compromise that takes him to, having to lie and cover things up.”
Nancy and Mike were the worst hit by the events that took place in season one, according to Ross Duffer.
“She and Mike are both the most screwed-up because they’re the ones who both lost someone… They’re both grappling with that, and we see the effects.”
Dustin will also get a pet!
