Same-sex marriage will turn your children into birds, new parody advert says

Illustrated rainbow pride flag on a white background.

You’ve probably seen the ridiculous Australian anti-same-sex marriage advert by now.

You know the one – a mother tells you that her child’s school told him he could wear a dress, and you think: “Oh, that seems reasonable.”

Then another throws her hands up in the air about her precious darling having to role play being in a same-sex couple, as if it’s a bad thing to think deeply about different sexualities.

And, as a new parody ad suggests, there may be worse fates.

After all, same-sex marriage could turn your kid into a bird.

The Guardian’s parody shows one comedian report in hushed tones: “School told my son that he could be a bird next year if he wanted to.

“A bird,” she repeats, horrified.

“He’s already started collecting feathers,” she adds, close to tears.

“Kids in year seven have been told to role play as hummingbirds,” another tells the camera.

“As a parent, I don’t want my child flapping his arms at 80 beats per second,” she adds.

“I don’t even know how to parent my child anymore. Like, does he need a nest?”

Another mother chimes in, telling a traumatic story about the different birds the school had turned children into, and finishing: “They were regurgitating food into each others’ mouths.”

The camera turns back on the first mother, who says determinedly: “No son of mine is going to be a bird.

She returns to the screen with her bird boy, adding in a resigned tone: “You should see what he’s done to the car.”

Instead of the now-infamous “you can say no” slogan used by the ‘No’ campaign, this parody ad uses the closing phrase: “you can say…BRAAKKK”.

Labour Party leader Bill Shorten condemned the ad and accused Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull of “giving the green light to this rubbish,” according to The Guardian.

The ad displayed a “freedom to hurt…not freedom of speech,” Shorten continued.

Tiernan Brady, executive director of The Equality Campaign, which is pro-same-sex marriage, said: “The people behind this ad know that Australians believe everyone should have the same opportunity to marry, so they are deliberately resorting to misleading people.”

And it has since been discovered that the star of the advert is facing questions over her links to gay ‘cure’ therapy.

Australia has faced a tidal wave of homophobic hate speech because of the unauthorised postal vote on equal marriage.

A homophobic anti-same-sex marriage advert seen in Melbourne used the words “STOP THE FAGS”.

This was above the nonsense statistics that 92% of children raised by gay parents are abused, 51% have depression, and 72% are obese.
