Miley Cyrus to bring 85-year-old drag queen on to MTV VMAs stage
Miley Cyrus will be bringing the “world’s oldest drag performer” on stage during a performance at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).
85-year-old James “Gypsy” Haake has previously appeared in videos for the musician, including the recently released “Younger Now” video.
In the video, which sees the singer imitate Elvis Presley, the 85-year-old gets to kiss Cyrus numerous times.
Talking to USA Today, Haake revealed that he will also get to kiss Cyrus during their performance.
He said of the show: “It’s absolutely mind-boggling what she’s done.
“Miley Cyrus’ fans will be very jealous of me because she gets to kiss me quite a few times.
“I don’t know if it will cure my social problems, but it’s sure going a long way toward it,” he quipped.
Haake was discovered in the 1980’s by Mel Brooks while performing in Hollywood.
Since then, he has appeared on TV and in films.
Despite his fame, he is incredibly excited for his performance with Cyrus which he said will be “wild”.
Haake added: “Wait ’til you see this on Sunday. Huge, huge dance number with her with all the seniors. She does kiss me. Okay?
“We’re talking about Miley Cyrus. Of course it gets wild.”
