Beyoncé and Laverne Cox are teaming up for a secret project

Orange is the New Black star Laverne Cox is teaming up with Queen Bey herself for a secret project.

Cox met Beyoncé at the Grammys this year and said she never thought she ever would.

She told People: “I was like, ‘I love you,’ and she’s like, ‘I know you do . . . I love you, too.’ And she’s like ‘Your Lip Sync Battle was amazing,’—she had seen I did Destiny’s Child.”

Cox announced the collaboration on Twitter.

She also spoke to Access Hollywood Live’s Kit Hoover about her nomination this year for an Emmy, as well as the Beyoncé collaboration.

“How did this come about?” Hoover asked Cox.

“So, I have no idea, to be perfectly honest,” Cox responded.

“I’m like, ‘Does she pick out, like, her biggest fans ever and let them work with her?”

Cox did offer some advice to anyone lucky enough to meet Queen Bey.

She said to act calm and serene, and don’t show that you are nervous.

“I felt a sense of calm come over me,” Cox told Hoover of the meeting.

She didn’t give up any other details of the secret project, but on Twitter she said more details will be unveiled on 6 September.

In February, Beyonce broke a silence on social media to call out the Trump administration on its revoking of previous guidelines protecting trans students’ bathroom rights.

Taking to her Facebook page which sports nearly 65 million followers, Bey linked to the US-based LGBT+ advocacy schools group GLSEN.

“LGBTQ students need to know we support them,” she wrote, adding: “Share your support to protect trans youth.”

Laverne Cox recently spoke about the importance of transgender representation in the mainstream media.
