This German town has been trolling neo-Nazi marches for years

A town in Germany apparently has uncovered the best way to annoy neo-Nazi marchers that come to visit.

The town of Wunsiedel, where Nazo leader Rudolf Hess was born, each year would see neo-Nazis turn up to march for his birthday.

And despite opposition and counter-protests, attempts to shut down the march were unsuccessful.

But in 2014, the organisation Rechts gegen Rechts, or Right against Right, began trolling the marchers so hard.

For each metre walked by the neo-Nazis, locals and businesses donated €10.

They turned the march into a “sports event”, would cheer the neo-Nazis on, and would pass out bananas to the walkers to keep up their strength.

Once they reached the end of the march, they would be informed of the prank.

In 2014, the march raised €10,000 which went to EXIT Deutschland.

The organisation is an anti-extremism charity which helps right-wing extremists defect safely from their organisations.

So in effect, the neo-Nazis were marching against themselves.

This story was shared by author and activist Cleve Jones on Twitter.

He wrote: “Nazis coming to town? Here’s a positive and creative response. #Resist”

The tweet has gone viral in the wake of last weekend’s Charlottesville far-right protests, which saw one woman killed.

Tina Fey has got strong opinions on far-right protests set to take place in the US today.

A shocking video showing a racist Trump supporter launch into a homophobic rant against a woman who confronted him has been shared online.
