Aaron Carter’s former girlfriend has denied being homophobic after leaving her bisexual boyfriend.
Madison Parker says accusations that she left the singer because he came out as bisexual are “appalling and hurtful”.
The 90s popstar opened up to his girlfriend days before sharing the news with the world.
Despite an earlier statement from his spokesperson saying the split from Madison Parker was mutual, Carter went on to say that she broke up with him.
On the Bert Show, Carter said: “I had discussed it with my ex-girlfriend, and she didn’t really understand it and she didn’t want [to].”
He didn’t call her out for breaking up with him for being bi, but did say that was the reason.
“And that was it. So we left it mutual and parted ways.”
Responding to the comments, 28-year-old Parker admitted she was furious at his insinuation.
“My split with Aaron has nothing to do with him being bisexual,” she told E! News.
“Our parting of ways is something that has been coming for some time and it’s the best thing for us both.
“Some of my closest friends and loved ones are of the LGBTQ community, people I love and support wholeheartedly, so for… anyone to label me ‘homophobic’ is appalling and hurtful and couldn’t be more off character.”
She continued: “I’ve been nothing but supportive of Aaron and his career and I’m happy for him that he’s having the courage to live his truth.

The performer formally came out two weeks ago and has been inundated with positive responses from fans since.
He wrote: “To start off, I would like to say that I love each and EVERY ONE of my fans.
“There’s something I’d like to say that I feel is important for myself and my identity that has been weighing on my chest for nearly half of my life.
“This doesn’t bring me shame, just a weight and burden I have held onto for a long time that I would like lifted off of me.”
