Singer Beth Ditto has put her tour on halt as she has fallen ill.

The former Gossip member cancelled her show at Rough Trade in New York in the last minute Facebook post.

The statement explained that she was stable but would not be able to give the full performance she would want to.

It read: “Real talk…..Beth is sick and she’s not going to be able to do the show at Rough Trade tonight.

“She spent last night at the DR and is stabilized but in no shape to pour out her heart like she does every night on stage.

“Huge apologies and love to everyone who had planned to come, we will be back as soon as possible.

“Thank you for your understanding,” they added.

The singer has been touring with her new album, Fake Sugar, which was released on Virgin Records.

Some fans were angry at the last minute cancellation.

“Would have been nice if you let us know before the show was about to start,” one person wrote.

However, many more fans have sent their best wishes to the singer and stressed how incredible her performances on the tour had been so far.

One person wrote: “Hope you feel better soon! The D.C. Show was insane. You gave it your all. Hope the crazy heat in there didn’t make you ill! It was a bit much.”

Another person added: “Sending you healing LOVE. Thank you for that amazing show last night. Take care of yourself first always!”

It is unclear when Ditto will be returning to the tour but PinkNews has reached out for information.

The star married her long-term partner Kristin Ogata in 2013.

Following the wedding, Ditto shared a beautiful picture of herself with her partner.

Alongside the image, she wrote: “At long last, now that we have returned home and recovered from all the amazingness and had some time to bask in the afterglow, we are exited [sic] to share with you a pic or two from [our] wedding!”
