Roxane Gay says she wants to write the new series of The L Word
A new season of The L Word is in the works.
In its wake, it left a dedicated fanbase and a multitude of broken taboos.
And now some very big names are lining up to get involved in the show.
Roxane Gay, the feminist academic and author, has thrown her name in the hat.
The feminist took to Twitter to offer her skills.
She wrote: “Dear @Showtime I will be a writer on this for you.”
The L Word will be back on Showtime for at least one more season, with co-creator Ilene Chaiken back on board as an executive producer for the new edition of the series.
Sources have told Entertainment Weekly that the show’s stars Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moenig and Leisha Hailey will be back on the show – and will also be executive producers.

She said: “When we went off the air in 2009, I think a lot of people thought: ‘Okay, the baton is passed now, and there will be lots of shows that portray lesbian life.’
“There’s really nothing. It feels like maybe it should come back.”
The initial fervour over a possible return was sparked when Chaiken tweeted, apparently out of the blue: “So excited! Can’t wait…!”
Chaiken, who is now an executive producer for hit Fox show Empire, included the Twitter handles of pretty much every one of the cast members in that post.
The prospect of seeing some of the best, most fleshed-out characters – let alone lesbian characters – interact again is almost too much excitement to bear.
