Dustin Lance Black says he and Tom Daley were first to go to bed on their wedding day
Filmmaker Dustin Lance Black has said he and husband Tom Daley were the first to go to bed on their wedding day.
The couple tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony after a hospital scare for Daley in May.
The couple reportedly had their wedding in Bovey Castle, Devon, near the UK’s south coast.
“It was such a beautiful day,” Black tells 5 News.
“I mean the best part of the day beyond saying I do and making that promise in front of all of our loved ones….was seeing my family from Texas, flying out and meeting all of Tom’s family from Plymouth and watching them bond and really bond and really get along.
He adds: “We were the first to go to bed, they all stayed up all night long drinking it was great!”
Reflecting on their first two months of marriage ahead of Pride in London, Black added: “We’re just really open about who we are and I don’t think it’s even a gay thing, we just don’t hide our relationship.
“If we’re going to do something together we’re husbands, we’re each other’s life partners. We love each other so we don’t hide it.
“It’s been the loveliest two months since we were married and I’m understanding every day just how deep that tradition and that word goes.”
The 22-year-old Olympian and 42-year-old Oscar-winning screenwriter have been together for four years.
Daley recently faced controversy after he was accused of having an affair by a number of media outlets when a video of him stripping was leaked online.
The athlete admitted that he had sexted and sent explicit videos when he and Lance-Black were on a seven-month break.
They have since released a video together insisting that the two were “good” and that the relationship was as strong as ever.
The couple last month shared the first pictures of their wedding day.
They were subjected to a homophobic wedding tweet by the Daily Express.
Black previously opened up saying his relationship with Daley felt different after they got married.
