People are not happy with Andrew Garfield.

Earlier this week, the Amazing Spider-Man and Hacksaw Ridge star said he wouldn’t rule out having a relationship with a man in the future.

The actor, who is currently starring in Angels in America at the British National Theatre, also talked about binge-watching RuPaul’s Drag Race.

“My only time off during rehearsals – every Sunday I would have eight friends over and we would just watch Ru.

“This is my life outside of this play,” he added.

But it was the next quote that sparked a backlash from unhappy fans.

Garfield said: “I am a gay man right now just without the physical act – that’s all.”

Twitter, predictably, dragged the hell out of the Academy Award-nominated actor.

One user commented: “Speaking of, I am rich without the physical act”.

Another parodied the star, tweeting: “Andrew Garfield: ‘I love food but hate the way it tastes.'”

The burns kept coming.

And they precisely pulled zero punches.

Some were confused.

After all, none of us were aware that as well as making for some fantastic entertainment, RuPaul’s hit show actually changes your sexuality.

Seems strange, really, but Andrew Garfield knows best.

Others pointed out that maybe, just *maybe*, the actor might have misspoke.

It’s possible that he doesn’t have the knowledge or experience required to make the statement he did.

And still more users were just concentrating on being as savage as possible.

To be fair, Garfield did call for a pansexual webslinger in 2015.

He also couldn’t stop kissing men earlier this year, including Ryan Reynolds and Stephen Colbert.

He was later asked about the kiss while appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and ended up kissing him too.

Garfield joked: “I just wanted Ryan to know that I loved him no matter if he won or lost.

“I wanted him to know it’s how you play the game, it doesn’t matter, he showed up and gave it all and it doesn’t change anything in my heart. I just wanted him to know I love him very much.”
