RuPaul is getting a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame

Drag icon RuPaul will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

“Sweet Cheeses! My heart is beating so fast right now!” tweeted the star after hearing the news.

The move was announced on June 22 by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Walk of Fame Committee.

Other television stars and celebrities awarded stars include Simon Cowell, Lynda Carter and the departed Steve Irwin – who was also known as the Crocodile Hunter.

It was announced that LGBT ally and Hollywood star Jennifer Lawrence will be getting a star too.

Even parody singing sensation ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic is due to get his own star.

Other high-profile celebrities joining RuPaul on the Walk of Fame include Star Wars actor Mark Hamill and musicians Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols, Snoop Dogg and Mary J. Blige.

RuPaul has been on a hot streak lately, with RuPaul’s Drag Race being renewed for a tenth season and winning an Emmy for hosting the show.

Possibly the most famous drag queen in the world, he has had an incredible career, making a number of film and television appearances before his hit reality show.

The star has even released 11 studio albums.

RuPauls Drage Race is currently in its ninth season and airs on VH1.

This January on the anniversary of the day they met, RuPaul married his longtime partner Georges LeBar.

“The Committee looked carefully at each nominee and we feel that we have selected an eclectic group of talent that will appeal to the tastes of many fans around the world,’ said the member of the Walk of Fame committee and television producer Vin Di Bona.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a tourist and cultural hotspot in Los Angeles which was introduced in 1960 as a means to celebrate the glory of a community whose name means glamour and excitement in the four corners of the world.
