The anticipated series revival will air in between ‘The Good Place’and ‘Great News’.

Eric McCormack, Sean Hayes, Debra Messing and Megan Mullally will be reprising their old roles on the award-winning sitcom.

Season nine of Will and Grace was originally set to have 10 episodes but NBC increased the order to 12.

Series creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan have also convinced the original director of the series James Burrows, to direct and co-executive produce the shows return.

Part of the script for an episode called ‘The Wedding’ was leaked earlier this month when producer Max Mutchnick tweeted a picture from the writer’s room showing part of the script.

The sitcom ran from 1998 to 2006 and has been on an 11-year hiatus since its season eight finale.

It was the highest-rated sitcom in the 18 to 49-year-old demographic from 2001 to 2015.

Picking up 83 Emmy Award nominations the show won 16 of them during its run, including outstanding comedy series.

During September last year, the cast got together for a presidential election skit with NBC ahead f the presidential debates in the states.

Star of the show Leslie Jordan hinted at the return of the sitcom last year in December.

After this hint, Debra Messing took to Twitter to say that these were just rumours and that nothing was confirmed at the time.

A video earlier this year confirmed the news that the hit sitcom would be making a return.

The network said: “Will. Grace. Karen. Jack. TV’s favourite foursome is coming back to NBC!”

The show has often been hailed as the watershed moment in LGB visibility in the media.
