Footwear giants Nike and Converse have released their 2017 Pride collections featuring a series of trainers inspired by the LGBT rainbow flag.

Converse was bought by Nike in 2003 and now both brands are launching their new pride-themed collections.

Nike’s BETRUE collection was launched back in 2012 and since then the company has had the mission to make sport accessible for all.

Nike BETRUE was launched in 2012.

“Sporting your rainbow in the gym or on a run became a way to feel like you belonged to something larger, you were connected to being ‘out’ or being an ally,” Robert Gorman, LBGT Network Leader at Nike, said.

“The rainbow has and always will be incorporated into the BETRUE product in some way.”

Under the slogan “yes to all” Converse’s collection aims to celebrate the diversity among people and to send a message of acceptance to everyone.

It features different models both high and low of pride-inspired Converse Chuck Taylor All Star trainers.

“Through this collection, Converse says, ‘Yes to all!’ standing with the belief that whatever your gender, sexual orientation, or identity, everyone is free to be who they are,” a Converse representative told Unicorn Booty.

Prices range from $25 to $110 and all styles are available online and in selected stores.

All the proceeds from the Converse Pride collection will be donated to LGBT organisations It Gets Better Project and The Happy Hippie Foundation who work to empower the LGBT community around the world.

Online you can also costumes your Converse and Nike Pride shoes.

Both Converse and Nike’s collections also include t-shirts, socks and rainbow laces and are available for adults and kids.

On the online store of both brands it is also possible to customise your pair of shoes and make it unique.

While Converse pride line is already available the ones from Nike will be on June 1.

Converse and Nike are just some of many clothing brands launching rainbow themed merchandise.

Target in the US doubled down on pride clothes this year launching its collection with the hashtag #TakePride.

The clothing chain made this decision despite a boycott it faced last year because of its bathroom policy.

The American Family Association, that was behind the boycott last year, claimed that Target is “normalising homosexuality” with its policies.

Other clothing stores are showing their support for the LGBT community launching campaigns featuring LGBT models.
