Katie Hopkins fired from her LBC radio show after ‘final solution’ Manchester attack tweet
Katie Hopkins has been fired from her radio show.
Radio station LBC issued a statement today revealing the sacking, which they say is “effective immediately”.
The journalist had posted a controversial tweet about the Manchester attack just days ago, in which she called for the “final solution”.
The now-deleted tweet, made in the hours after the explosion, read: “22 dead – number rising. Schofield. Don’t you even dare. Do not be a part of the problem. We need a final solution #Machester (sic).”
Today LBC said Hopkins had agreed to leave the station.
They posted on Twitter: “LBC and Katie Hopkins have agreed that Katie will leave LBC effective immediately.”

Journalists and commentators had threatened a boycott of the station if she wasn’t fired.
Guardian journalist Owen Jones, who is gay, had called for people to refuse interviews to the station.
Jones welcomed the firing, writing: “We stood against hatred, and, this time, we won.”

And don’t anyone try and pretend that this is an attack on free speech. Hopkins can keep freely spouting her hatred, and tragically will.

It comes after she apologised to the parent of a transgender child after she made a series of “wild insults”.
Hopkins said that parents of transgender children were “too quick” to allow their child to identify as trans.
She also said that these parents were “vegan, quinoa-eating, liberals”.
One mother, Sam, of a five-year-old trans boy, phoned up Hopkins to set her and her assumptions straight.
“I’d like to put out there, I don’t eat quinoa, I’m not a vegan, just to make that really clear,” the caller started.
“That’s a good point of clarity,” Hopkins replied. Adding that she had made “quite an assumption”.
Hopkins said: “I want to thank you for calling in after I made a wild insult to all people that we were talking about, the type of mum as I had decided was a vegan quinoa-eating soul.
“You’ve changed my mind in terms of how mums sound. You don’t sound at all as I expected, you don’t sound in the way that I described you, and I think I owe you an apology for suggesting that you were those sorts of mums.”
The radio presenter, who recently lost a libel case to Jack Monroe, added that the mother had made her think more rationally about the topic.
