A bisexual man from America has opened up about his inspirational coming out story.

40-year-old Greg Ward was well aware of his sexuality from the young age of five, and it is a factor that has never changed throughout his life.

Despite being sure of himself, Ward faced stigmatism from family and friends when he decided to come out in 2000 at the age of 25.

Friends began mocking him over his sexual partners, and eventually forced Ward to go back into the closet despite finally finding comfort in being able to have male and female partners.

The now 42-year-old avoided dating anyone for 10 years because of the reaction from his friends, but soon came to the realisation that “life is too short” to hide his sexuality.

Ward suddenly lost a close friend to cancer, sparking his decision to once again live his life to the fullest.

In 2012, Ward came out again and since then he has never looked back.

Two years later, Ward became an advocate for bisexual people and decided to launch a bisexual support group in his state called Fluid Arizona.

Ward explained that he hopes his work can offer a better understanding to those who are confused about what being bisexual means.

“I’ve heard people say that bisexual men don’t exist – they’re on the train to Gay Town,” Ward said. “I think they don’t understand what bisexuality is.”

The advocate added that he had experienced an outpour of support online.

He said: “They talk about how my stories have really helped them and they’ll have similar experiences and being able to be a part of the online community helps them identify with other people like them.

“They realise they’re not alone in this world, that they have this strong community that they can share the fears they have, whatever excitements they have, with others just like them,” he added.
