A new trailer for House of Cards hints at the possibility that Frank Underwood’s sexual orientation may be explored further.

Frank and Claire Underwood

In previous seasons of the huge Netflix hit, the sexuality of now President, Frank Underwood, has been partially explored.

The President’s bisexuality has been seen as he slept with his late bodyguard Edward Meachum, as well as flirtations with other characters male and female.

In the new trailer, Underwood is seen in various states with several partners, but in a blink-or-you’ll-miss-it moment, he is seen with an unidentified male lover.

Underwood is also seen cheersing with his wife Claire, holding her hand, and is heard throughout mocking the American public.

Season 5, which is out later this month, will still feature Kevin Spacey as Frank Underwood and Robin Wright as Claire Underwood.

Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Neve Campbell, Derek Cecil, Paul Sparks and Joel Kinnaman will also return.

But unlike the previous four seasons, this one is without creator Beau Willimon.

Back in 2015, Wright spoke of having to fight to have equal pay to Spacey for her role in the Netflix hit.

Former House of Cards showrunner Willimon in 2015 spoke about the sexuality of Kevin Spacey’s character Frank Underwood.

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe in 2015 said he simply cannot understand why there is such a pay gap between men and women in Hollywood, and that it makes him really “fucking angry”.

X-Files star Gillian Anderson also spoke about the gender pay gap, saying she was offered “half” the pay of David Duchovny for the show’s revival.

Years after speaking out about having a relationship with a woman, Anderson last year said she thought she owed it to her to not keep their relationship a secret.
