Netflix show 13 Reasons Why’s Katherine Langford has written a beautiful lesbian love song

13 Reasons Why’s Katherine Langford, who plays main character Hannah Baker, has written a lesbian love song.

Langford, from Perth in Australia, has shot to prominence since the hit Netflix show came out on March 31.

The programme tracks high school student Baker’s decline towards suicide through 13 tapes she recorded, then left to be slowly passed on to the people she deems responsible for her death.

There are three out gay men – main characters Ryan and Tony, and Tony’s boyfriend Brad – on the show, which also features a lesbian kiss between Baker and one of her classmates.

And it has emerged that Langford, who turns 21 tomorrow, recorded a video on YouTube of her performing a song she wrote, called “I’ve Got a Crush on Zoe Bosch”.

The song details Langford’s love for her fellow student, a girl who she calls “straight-up amazing” and “captivating.”

Bosch makes her want to “scream it from the rooftops,” she sings.

Langford hasn’t spoken publicly about her sexuality, but she did take her mother to San Francisco’s gay pride parade last year.

Captioning her Instagram photo of a group memorialising the Orlando Massacre, she wrote that “while there was a lot of love and joy – this hammered home just how far we still have to go.”

Zoe Bosch was head girl at Perth Modern School, where Langford also attended – in fact, Langford is wearing the school’s uniform in the video.

The song, released four years ago, is a straight-up declaration of love for Bosch, describing all her best characteristics.

Opening with “Zoe, this one is for you,” Langford tells Bosch: “I’ve got a crush on you, girl.

“‘Cos you are amazing, drive me crazy, oh yes you do. Love and visual art, hashtag art fag.

“Living proof you can be cool and smart,” she sings, serenading her classmate.

“Leader of our year, you’re always full of cheer. It is infectious. You’re so approachable / never met anyone like you, you are so special.

“You’re funny and you’re daring; you’re loving and you’re caring for everyone around you. You’re straight-up damn amazing, you’re so captivating.

“Girl I love you, oh I love you,” she continues, singing beautifully while accompanying herself on the piano.

“I’m not afraid to say it, I am gonna scream it from the rooftops to the rooftops. Zoe girl you’re crazy cool and I have got a crush on you, and everybody else does too.

“We’ve all got a crush on Zoe Bosch,” she finishes, “‘cos she is amazing.”

Now a support worker in Perth, Bosch’s school noted that she was a representative on the student council for the five years.

In a school newsletter from 2013 which announced the student council, Bosch was described as “priding herself on her compassionate nature and ability to empathise with others, which has enabled her to create harmonious team environments.”

She clearly made an impact on Langford.
