Turns out this homophobic politician is also a massive racist

Good old reliable homophobe Steve King is finally under fire for bigoted comments.

You might remember Republican Congressman Steve King as the guy who offered to marry gay people to his lawnmower, the guy who claimed evidence for gay parenting is “fake” like global warming research, or the guy who tried to ban trans people from peeing in the Capitol.

Well, after a long distinguished career of being a reliable bigot, it turns out that’s only the tip of the iceberg.

The Iowa politician is under fire this week for praising Dutch fascist and white nationalist Geert Wilders.

He tweeted: “Wilders understands that culture and demographics are our destiny. We can’t restore our civilization with somebody else’s babies.”

Wilders is one of Europe’s most notorious extreme-right leaders, calling for the Qu’ran to be banned and mosques shut down.

A numberof Republicans have disavowed King’s comments.

Iowa GOP Chairman Jeff Kaufmann said, “I do not agree with Congressman King’s statement. We are a nation of immigrants, and diversity is the strength of any nation and any community.”

The White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer also deflected questions about King.

But on CNN today, King refused to back down from his racially-charged comments.

He said: “It’s a clear message.

“We need to get our birth rates up or Europe will be entirely transformed within a half century or a little more. And Geert Wilders knows that and that’s part of his campaign and part of his agenda.”

He said: “I’d like to see an America where… we look a lot the same. I think there’s been far too much focus on race, especially in the past eight years. I want to see that put behind us.”

Asked about his comments, King added: “There are civilisations that produce very little… this Western civilisation is a superior civilisation.”
