Trump not mentioning Orlando Massacre during Florida trip

President Donald Trump has made no indication he will pay tribute or even acknowledge the Orlando Massacre during his visit to Florida today.

Trump’s trip will include pitching his school vouchers plan at Saint Andrew Catholic School, which is less than seven miles from the Pulse nightclub, where 49 people were shot dead in June.

The massacre committed by 29-year-old Omar Mateen was one of those included on the list of 78 terror attacks which the White House falsely accused the media of not reporting.

Directly after the attack, which also left 53 victims wounded, Trump caused widespread offence by posting a tweet congratulating himself “for being right on radical Islamic terrorism”.

He then criticised President Obama for not using the phrase “radical Islamic terrorism,” before posting another tweet in which he served his own agenda by calling for a ban on Muslims entering the US.

And just last week, Trump and Vice-President Mike Pence spoke at the Conservative Political Action Conference alongside David Clarke, a Wisconsin sheriff who claimed that discussions about gun control after the massacre were a “distraction” and who has called trans people “freaks”.

The city of Orlando announced in November that it planned to buy the nightclub and turn it into a memorial.

PinkNews launched a petition this week in response to Trump’s removal of protections for trans children, which has gathered thousands of signatures to date.
