‘Help us beat the big fat lesbians’, politician attacks women for entering cutest couple contest

Bobby Rae February 16, 2017

A local politician has attacked a lesbian couple for entering a cutest couples contest.

Jacob Waller who sits on the Henry County Board in Illinois took to Facebook to attack Kathy and Brittney for entering the competition that was hosted by a local radio station.

Kathy and Brittney went on to win the competition.

Posting a photo of his family, he said: “Help us beat the big fat lesbians that are beating us now.”

He followed this post with another that added #notacouple #gobegaytoyourself #couplesmakechildren.

Sydney told WQAD News 8 she felt that someone who was elected to help the community was ignoring a large part of it.

“I think he managed to hit on everything with the homophobia and the fat shaming,” she said.

“To see someone openly bashing someone and people agreeing with him on Facebook was weird.”

Mr Waller later attempted an apology that was suffixed with the words, “I strongly believe what I believe and fight for it with the same tenacity as those who disagree with me”.

Henry County Board Chairman, Roger Gradert, said he had received complaints about Mr Waller’s comments.

“They are personal comments. Those comments haven’t been made on the board, so as board members we are restricted legally because the people elected him into District 1,” he said.

“The comments are appalling and everyone is upset with each other and they are trying to drag the board into the middle of it.”
