A school was forced to send a hilariously awkward letter, after a child chose a pretty remarkable name for his imaginary friend.

The child’s father found out about his son’s nickname after the school sent a letter home.

Paul Hunt, 38, was shocked to find the letter explaining his son’s odd name for an imaginary friend.

His 10-year-old son had invented the friend at school, the letter said.

While the school, in Somerset, England, said they had no problem with imaginary friends and thought it was creative – the name was more of an issue.

The school asked Mr Hunt if he could encourage his son to refrain from shouting out “Wildo the Dildo”, the name of his imaginary pal.

The surprised school confirmed that the child had not known the meaning of the word “dildo”.

The children promised not to use the word again.

He posted the letter to social media, where it’s now been seen thousands of times.

The boy’s father, a software engineer, said: “We were already aware of what had happened because he’d told us about it the previous day.

“We were surprised to receive a letter about it though.”

He said they didn’t discuss it with him further and added: “He had no idea what the word meant.

“He was mortified that he’d used it and was not going to use it again anyway so there was no need for a conversation.

“We were surprised that the teachers had thought it necessary to write the letter at all, let alone be explicit about what the word was.

“So yes we certainly did have a good laugh about it.”
