Prisoner caught with two mobile phones, charger cable, herbal medicine and SIM card in his anus
A prisoner was caught trying to smuggle an astounding haul of items into prison – by putting them up his anus.
Daniel Harrington, 25, was caught with the items after appearing at Hull Magistrate’s Court.
Officers found two mobile phones, a charger cable, herbal medicine and a SIM card all up his bottom.
He was due in court after he had broken a non-molestation order after his fed-up parents said they wanted “nothing to do with him”.
The haul was discovered by wardens when he was taken to Her Majesty’s Prison Hull following his magistrates’ court appearance.
However they failed to spot the SIM card – which was later used by another inmate used to threaten to blow up his ex-partner’s house, Hull Crown Court heard.
Philip Evans, prosecuting, told court: “He was later to tell the police that he was off his face with Valium during his experience in the magistrates’ court – however he was sufficiently compos mentis to negotiate a plea prior to being dealt with.
“He also had the presence of mind to conceal two mobile phones, a charging cable and SIM card in his anus.
“So it was that while he was being sentenced for one crime, he was actively handling the execution of his next offence.”
Paul Norton, defending, said Harrington knew he would be going to prison when he decide to hide the phones.
He said: “Although his own recollection of what happened is clouded by a very large quantity of Valium, it is very likely that it was due to anxiety, naivety and to curry favours with other prisoners when he got there.”

The judge sentenced Harrington to 18 months for conveying prohibited items into prison.
He told Harrrington that putting the items into his bottom “did not happen by accident”.
It’s not the first time a prisoner has been found using their bum to smuggle items.
British-born Bruno Knight was arrested in California in July, while attempting to smuggle crystal meth onto a flight to the UK.
The erotic actor, real name Phillip Gizzie, was arrested at Los Angeles Airport after attempting to board a Virgin Atlantic flight.
He eventually admitted to the drugs being inside him – which had to be removed by enema.
