A gay couple are set to star in a series of adverts for the cereal brand Kellogg’s Corn Flakes.

Chris Hall, 42, and Mark Hearfield, 59, will appear in the adverts alongside a number of other couples to talk about how they take their cereal.

The couple, who have been married for over 20 years, jumped at the chance to be part of the opportunity and hope their appearance ill further normalise gay couples.

“When we heard about the opportunity to be in the advert, we were both really excited,” Hall said. “We wanted to be part of the conversation and thought it would be really fun to do a film shoot in our home.”

“We can’t wait to see it on the television, Chris can’t sleep he’s that excited,” Hearfield added.

“It was so much fun to be involved and we love the pictures that were shot for the campaign. At the end of the day, it’s not every day you get to be in a Kellogg’s advert.”

It will be the first advert campaign the company has run in five years and will last nine months.

Kellogg’s has previously been named one of the best places for LGBT employees to work.

The ad comes after Lush Cosmetics used gay couple to advertise the Valentines Day collections.

Sainsbury’s Christmas advert last year also casually featured a same-sex couple.

On-screen LGBT representation is “virtually non-existent” according to a number of reports, and it is becoming increasingly popular for companies and brands to use same-sex couples in advertising.

GAP and JC Penney are just two of our favourite 13 adverts that feature same-sex couples.
