The UK’s postal service is honouring David Bowie a year on from his death – with a range of commemorative stamps.

The music legend, who captured the imagination of a generation with his striking image and rejection of gender norms, passed away a year ago this month, shortly after the release of his final album Blackstar.

It was announced this morning that Royal Mail will release a commemorative range of stamps later this month in honour of Bowie.

The stamps, will be released on 14 March 2017, will pay homage to Bowie and feature many of his most famous album covers and artworks.

Philip Parker of Royal Mail said: “For five decades David Bowie was at the forefront of contemporary culture, and has influenced successive generations of musicians, artists, designers and writers.

“Royal Mail’s stamp issue celebrates this unique figure and some of his many celebrated personas.”

A string of products are available alongside the stamps, paying tribute to Bowie’s work across the decades

A release added: “We’re thrilled to reveal the next instalment in our Music Giants Special Stamp series: a tribute to David Bowie, one of the most influential music and cultural figures of all time.

“Alongside the Special Stamps, First Day Covers and Presentation Pack, this exciting issue will feature several limited edition David Bowie souvenirs, some of which have an edition limit of just 950.”
