Former Spice Girl Geri Horner made a beautiful tribute to her late friend George Michael

Former Spice Girl Geri Horner (Halliwell) has paid tribute to her late friend George Michael in a beautiful way.

Horner announced today that she has named her newborn baby-boy after the former Wham! singer who passed away on Christmas day last year.

The star, who gave birth on Saturday morning, named her son Montague George Hector Horner.

The baby is Horner’s first child with her partner Christian Horner and the little boy has already earned himself the nickname “Monty”.

A source close to the family told the Mirror: “Geri wanted George to be a part of Monty’s life, so she felt it only fitting that her newborn have a middle name after the star.”

Montague is Horner’s third child after Olivia and Bluebell, whose Godfather is George Michael’s ex partner Kenny Goss.

The 44-year-old took to Instagram to announce her son’s name.

“Montague George Hector Horner arrived this morning, a beautiful little brother for Bluebell and Olivia #amazing-day #grateful #monty.”

On Twitter she wrote: “Christian and I are delighted to announce our baby boy was born this morning weighing 7lbs 8oz.”

Following the news of her friend’s death, Geri wrote: “So so sad, RIP George, a dear friend, the kindest, most generous and talented person.”

George Michael was found dead at his home on Christmas Day by his partner, Fadi Fawaz.

An initial inquest into the 53-year-old’s death proved to be inconclusive and further toxicology tests are being carried out.

Since his death, dozens of people have opened up about the singer’s extraordinary generosity and anonymous philanthropy, donating millions to good causes without revealing his identity.
