DC Comics has announced a new same-sex power couple in its super/anti-hero ranks.

Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn are officially a couple, as revealed in the Advocate.

The couple previously shared a kiss in the 1940s-style Bombshell series, but have now made it official.

The anti-heroes began their friendship in Batman: The Animated Series in the 90s.

It has long believed that they had more than just a simple friendship.

The writers of Quinn’s solo series Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner have also said that the pair are in an open relationship in their versions.

But in the latest Bombshell episode, it is glaringly obvious that they are girlfriends.

The couple were high on PinkNews’ list of LGBT superhero couples we want to see on the big screen – check out the full list here.

Ryan Reynolds who plays pansexual superhero Deadpool on the big screen has revealed the reason more LGBT superheroes are not depicted on screen.

Despite Wonder Woman being bisexual but not having her sexuality explored on the big screen, Gal Gadot who plays her in the current DC Comics big screen universe has said she fancies Halle Berry for her on-screen crush.
