A Republican who ran to become Virginia’s Lieutenant Governor has claimed that the response to pastor Kim Burrell’s homophobic rant proves liberals hate “black churches”.

E. W. Jackson, who was the Republican Party nominee for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia in the 2013 election, made the extraordinary claims after leaked footage of singer Kim Burrell led to her being dropped from a slot on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.

In a recorded church sermon, Burrell – who features on Pharrell track ‘I See A Victory’ – claimed that homosexuality is an “evil spirit” and that homosexuality is a perverted act.

She warned: “You’re playing with it in 2017, you’ll die from it. That perverted, homosexual spirit is a spirit of delusion and confusion. If you, as a man, will open your mouth and take a man’s penis in your face, you are perverted. If you are a woman and you shake your breasts in another woman’s face, you are perverted.”

On his radio show The Awakening, Jackson fumed about the response to her comments.

He claimed: “She’s being persecuted for what she said in church… if you are a Christian and you happen to be black, these Democrats and liberals hate your guts, if you are a Bible-believing Christian.

“If you’re a wishy-washy, don’t half-believe anything and aren’t willing to stand up for anything, you’ll be okay with them… but if you’re a Bible-believing Christian who is on fire for God and you believe that His word is true… they hate your guts. Don’t you let anybody kid you.”

He also claimed that Ellen DeGeneres was sexually confused.

He said: “Why would any Christian want to sit up and watch any woman who I guess thinks she’s a man? The whole thing is confusion.

“I guess Ellen DeGeneres would say she’s a woman but she likes other women… but she’s not a man! To me, folks, it’s just confusion.

“Look, here’s the reality, if a woman is a lesbian and likes women, say masculine-type women, why wouldn’t you just like a man? To me, the whole thing is just confusion, and the Bible says it’s confusion.”

Lesbianism is not mentioned in the Bible.
