Trolls reportedly hijacked a poll to name notorious hate mongering Milo Yiannopoulos LGBTQ Nation’s 2016 Person of the Year.

The Breitbart editor garnered 70% of the vote after right-wingers flocked from sites such as 4chan to knock the results, according to vocativ.

Despite the tampered results, the self proclaimed “dangerous f*ggot” was named Person of the Year – but the site made sure to list all his wrong doings.

They stuck by Yiannopoulos win, saying it was “fair and square”.

Indiana governor and vice president-elect Mike Pence came in a distant second place with 19% of the vote.

Reddit users took to the LGBT forum to complain about the news. Some expressed dismay over the casted vote.

One user wrote: “Maybe don’t just leave your “person of the year” honour up to an internet poll? “Person of the year” is meaningless if the words don’t have meaning.”

“Why does LGBTQ Nation even give this jack-ass a platform?”

“Well it fits with 2016,” commented another.

However, once again trolls took over the comments section and moderators have since locked the post.

Despite being gay, Yiannopoulos is notoriously homophobic and transphobic.

The tech editor previously said he would cure himself of homosexuality if he could, has burnt the Pride flag as part of a pro-Trump election ad, and has been banned from Twitter after being accused of racially abusing Ghostbusters star Leslie Jones.

The Trump supporting conservative is also spreading transphobic messages on tour. He frequently claims that trans people are “gay men dressing up for attention” and described the trans community as “mentally ill”.

He was offered a $250,000 book deal late last year which sparked backlash.
