This is what coming out to your parents does to your heart rate
This incredible graph shows a teen’s pounding heart as they came out to their dad.
A Reddit user shared the data unwittingly captured by their fitness tracking device, showing the exact moment they opened up about their sexuality.
It shows their heart rate rising from an average resting rate to beyond what the tracker believes is ‘exercise’, reaching a high of 121 beats per minute just as they worked up the courage to come out.
The user clarified that their dad took it “okay”, adding: “He actually told me he already knew, but made sure I understood the ‘spiritual implications’.
“It’s alright though, I saw that coming and I’m expecting it will take a while for him to officially get used to.”
Judging by the spike, finding a way to come out to your parents a few times a day might actually be a solid exercise plan… though we’re not sure we’d recommend it.
