George Michael’s Spotify streams have jumped up 3,158% since his death

George Michael’s Spotify streams have jumped up 3,158% since the news of his death.

The ex-Wham singer passed away on the 25th of December at his home in Oxfordshire.

Since his death, his music has spiked in popularity as people take to the music streaming service Spotify to listen to some of his best known tracks.

Last Christmas tops the list in popular songs, followed by Careless Whisper, Faith, Freedom! ’90 and Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.

The songs are a mix of solo tracks and hits from 80’s group Wham! that Michael fronted with Andrew Ridgeley in the 80’s.

George Michael was found “lying peacefully”, after a heart failure, his manager said.

George Michael’s late boyfriend, Fadi Fawaz, has described the emotional moment he found the star. Fawaz revealed that he found the singer dead in his bed on Christmas day.

He told The Daily Telegraph: “I went round there to wake him up and he was just gone, lying peacefully in bed. We don’t know what happened yet.

“Everything had been very complicated recently, but George was looking forward to Christmas, and so was I. Now everything is ruined. I want people to remember him the way he was – he was a beautiful person.”

George Michael’s £100 million estate is to be split between his celebrity godchildren, it has been reported.

Spandau Ballet bassist and former EastEnders star Martin Kemp’s children, Roman and Harley, could be in line to inherit millions from the estate.

Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell’s daughter, Bluebell, is also expected to be named in the will.

The Mirror reports that money is also expected to be left to his sisters, Melanie and Yioda, his partner, Fadi, and his cousin, Andros’ two children – who he is also the godfather of.

Since the stars death, encounters of his charitable nature have been shared online.

It’s reported that Michael, real name Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou, gave millions of pounds in donations to charitable causes.
