Saara Aalto has opened up about being X Factor’s most successful LGBT woman in a new interview.

The talent show contestant became the only out woman to make the final two in the December final.

“It feels incredible,” she told DIVA magazine‘s January issue.

“It’s crazy to think that a girl like me can break records.”

The star revealed she’s previously had relationships with men, but can’t imagine doing so again now she’s engaged to a woman.

“I’ve always known gender doesn’t matter for me.

“But now, being with a woman, it’s hard to imagine going back to men”.

The interview comes days after the Finnish singer signed a huge five album international deal with Sony Music UK and Sony Finland, according to The Sun.

She’s now reported to be working with Sia on her new music.

“Oh my god, it’s just insane”, the singer said.

“I think Sia is a pretty good reference for me because her way of singing and the way she composes the melodies and writes the lyrics is very similar to what I’ve always done.

“I describe my own music as epic love pop. I don’t want to sing about going to a party with friends, I want to sing meaningful songs that can inspire people and I think Sia’s songs are really deep.

“‘Chandelier’ is about young girls who think they have to please others to be loved and that really touched me. The lyrics are so inspiring and life-changing.”

She also revealed a budding friendship between her and Adam Lambert, who she dueted with in the finale.

“Adam and I have been tweeting and sending some Instagram messages to each other,” she revealed. “He used to have a Finnish boyfriend so he has a connection and can even speak some Finnish things.

“We immediately connected and hopefully in the future we can work together – he said it would be really nice to do something together so let’s see.”

The Finnish pop sensation had been the hot favourite to win X Factor from early in the season.

6.4 million people voted in the show’s final that saw Matt Terry given the winning title.

However his first single struggled as it limped in at number three in the charts, despite X Factor winners almost always going on to take the top spot.

Aalto, who previously competed to represent her native Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest, has opened up about having a female fiancé during this year’s X Factor.

X Factor bosses had been forced to deny allegations that they had sought to downplay the relationship during the show, but her fiance appeared in the final.

X Factor chief Simon Cowell was criticised earlier in the series after making a crude gay joke at the expense of co-judge Louis Walsh.
