Bachelor contestants were meant to woo Mr Right, but fell for eachother instead
Two contestants on The Bachelor who fell for eachother have been named Couple of the Year – and insist their relationship is not “fake”.
Megan Marx and Tiffany Scanlon had both signed up to appear on the Australian version of reality show, which was meant to be all about wooing Mr Right.
However, the pair decided they were really looking for Miss Right – with Marx dramatically quitting the show in a snub to the designated Bachelor, Richie Strahan. She began dating Scanlon shortly after.
The pair were named Couple of the Year by Maxim Magazine this week.
Since they began their relationship, critics have accused the pair of faking their romance to publicity.
But speaking to Maxim Australia, Marx insisted the romance was genuine.
She said: “I think without people properly knowing us, and seeing us together, it can all seem a bit ‘too good to be true’.
“Some people can be fairly negative, but there is also so much support so we are trying to focus on that.”

Scanlon added: “Usually we just say, ‘OK, you can think what you like. I don’t have the time or energy to spend trying to convince the critics that we are together.
“It just makes me sad that we live in such a cynical world where a lot of people choose to believe it is a lie rather than having trust and faith in that it is the truth.”
She added: “I have always and will always continue to advocate acceptance and no labels in all areas of life. I don’t label myself or my relationship; I simply live and love and create life on my own terms.”
Ms Marx wrote previously: “I met Tiffany in a very strange situation… we were kind of dating the same guy. And it was filmed and put on TV!
“From that first cocktail party, it was like this instant calibration between souls, as if we had known each other once before.
“Friendship ripened into something bolder, trust in a very strange situation was formed, and now every adventure we have rivals the other- and continues to make plans for itself.”
