The Daily Mail has been accused of trying to out X Factor winner Matt Terry after it speculated about a secret same-sex relationship in an article on his win.

Viewers claimed to have seen the newly crowned winner Matt Terry, 23, share a ‘kiss’ with fellow contestant Freddy Parker, 18, after winning.

Twitter users speculated after the two male contestants could be seen close to each other during a huddle of the year’s singers.

The pair pulled away from each other as host Dermot O’Leary pushed his way through to interview the victor.

But the star told The Sun’s Dan Wootton that the rumours were untrue, saying he has “no idea” where the rumours came from.

“Freddy, man, he’s my little brother.

“He supported me so much, we just hit it off straight away, like since day one, and we’re just bros.

“We’ve got such a bromance going on.”

However the Daily Mail wrote about the pair’s alleged kiss, before writing of the widely rumoured secret same-sex relationship from this year’s series.

Fans were unimpressed that the pair had seemingly tried to link the two.

Today the singer said: “I don’t think we kissed!” when asked about the rumours.
