12 beautiful bigger women show off their bodies for naked calendar
We’ve all got used to seeing pristine naked bodies in calendars over recent years, but now there’s a calendar of ladies looking beautiful in all sizes.
The Adipositivity Project wants to promote the acceptance of people of all sizes – and get people discussing the realities of body politics.
The models featured don’t look like most people we see in the media, but they are people we see every day: the women pictured are educators, executives, mothers, musicians, professionals, performers, artists, activists, clerks, and writers.
As the Adipositivity website notes: “They are perhaps even the women you’ve clucked at on the subway, rolled your eyes at in the market, or joked about with your friends.”
The stunning shots are by ‘photo-activist’ Substantia Jones, 56, from New York City, who produced the calendar to display models less traditionally seen in the media.
Substantia told MailOnline: “I want everyone to make peace with their bodies, and to allow others to do the same with their own.”
She added: “I believe normalisation of the non-conforming through visibility is the most effective way to do this.
“Sizeist bigotry is both widespread and deeply harmful in prolonged ways. This is my pushback against it.
“Folks were eager to see a calendar showing people who occupy under-represented spots along the spectrum of human size variation.
“A calendar giving vital visibility to the diversity of size, shape, race, gender, sexual preference, and ability we see in the world around us, but rarely in visual media.”
