Police officers found not guilty of making up evidence after arresting gay couple

Two police officers have been found not guilty of making up false accusations about a gay couple they arrested.
Officers Gillian Feroz, 37, and Mark Daly, 31, were found not guilty of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
They arrested Anton Docherty and Ryan Forbes for an alleged domestic breach of the peace in January 2010 in Glasgow.
Mr Docherty had accused the officers of attempting to lie about the incident, after he recorded comments made by the officers.
The Sheriff Court in Glasgow heard that after the men were arrested on Bath Street, Mr Docherty had started recording the officers on his phone.
After the phone was taken from him it continued to record.
PC Feroz was recorded saying: “Just say they were kind of shoving at one another and shouting and swearing and then make up verbals.”
The court heard that PC Feroz had used the term “make up verbals” again.
The officer, PC Feroz, said that she speaks like that generally and that “make up” was a commonly used police phrase.
PC Daly had denied his guilty during the trial.
The jury found the officers not guilty of attempting to pervert the course of justice between 6 January and 10 November 2014 by providing false information about the conduct of the couple.
PC Feroz was found not guilty of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner as she was accused of swearing at Mr Doherty.
