Strictly dancer Gorka Márquez loses two teeth in ‘unprovoked’ attack en route to Blackpool gay club

A professional dancer from Strictly Come Dancing Gorka Márquez, has lost two of his teeth in an attack as he headed to a club in Blackpool.

The 26-year-old was headed to the Flamingo club, the biggest gay nightclub in Blackpool with fellow dancers Aljaž Škorjanec and Neil Jones.

According to the Sun, he was attacked whilst walking to the club and is having dental surgery on Monday to fix his two missing teeth.

He says he was punched in the face while heading to the club.

Speaking to the Sun, an unnamed friend of Márquez said the “entirely random” attack was perpetrated by a “group of local louts”.

Saying Márquez had not previously spoken to or met the people, the source said the group simply appeared “out of nowhere”.

The other dancers were thought to have avoided the confrontation.

“They went straight back to the hotel to see if he needed urgent medical care before going back to London for dental surgery,” the source added.

The incident was not reported to police.

Márquez made his debut on Strictly earlier this year, and had been partnered with Tameka Empson of Eastenders who departed the show in week three.

He still appears in segments of the show where there are group dancers, and also danced with singer Anastacia after her partner Brendan Cole became unwell.

A spokesman for the show said: “Gorka was sadly the victim of an unprovoked incident in Blackpool on Saturday night but he will be back in training this week and is looking forward to the group routine next weekend.”
