This one tweet says a lot about the fear some people have about the Trump Presidency

The reaction to Trump being elected as the 45th President of the United States has seen many take to social media to celebrate, commiserate and vent.

But one single tweet really says a lot about how his campaign, and his upcoming presidency could be seen as problematic for some.

A Twitter user named Jannatin wrote a single tweet which has obviously hit a nerve with a lot of people.

It reads: “My mom literally just texted me “don’t wear the Hijab please” and she’s the most religious person in our family….”

She later tweeted about crying with her Jewish and Christian roommates about the result, and then said she would never give up her beliefs no matter what happens.

“I’m not going to stop practicing my beliefs, as a kid i was harassed for my skin and religion enough. Not letting hateful rats win again,” she wrote.

News that Donald Trump would be the 45th President of the United States also sent phone lines ringing off the hook at LGBT+ hotlines.

Thousands of protesters flooded the streets to rally against President elect Trump on Wednesday night, hours after it was announced that he was victorious in his bid to beat Hillary Clinton to the White House.

The National Organisation for Marriage has also set out its strategy for rolling back LGBT rights under the Trump administration.

Just hours after finding out Trump would be president, a gay man said he had his head smashed open by celebrating Trump supporters in a bar.
