Man with ‘Faggots Vote Democrat’ sign and gun at polling station escapes charges

A man who turned up at a Texas polling station with a handgun and a sign saying ‘Faggots Vote Democrat’ won’t face any charges.

The man was briefly detained by police, but later released without charges because there wasn’t enough evidence that he had violated a law banning firearms within 100 feet of a polling station.

The unidentified man was set up outside a polling station in Spring, Texas with his sign, wearing a Glock handgun on his hip.

At first police didn’t intervene, but eventually they questioned the man, and even detained him in a squad car for a few minutes.

But less than an hour after police first questioned him, it was announced that he was being released without charges.

That’s because the district attorney’s office had insufficient evidence that he had gone within 100 feet of the polling station with his gun, which would have violated Texas law.

Amazingly, he wasn’t even the strangest Trump supporter at the Imperial Oaks polling station.

Another man appeared in a Trump mask, a ‘Make America Great Again’ hat and a glam rock outfit and danced around the polling station chanting “Build that wall!” and “Trump, Trump, Trump!”

No doubt he’ll be celebrating today, as Trump won the election and will next year become the 45th President of the United States.

As the LGBT community worries about what his victory might mean for their hard-won rights, plenty of people are looking north for hope – the Canadian immigration website crashed after news of Trump’s win broke.

There is at least some good news to come out of the day though.

First, North Carolina looks to have voted to replace Governor Pat McCrory, which gives hope that the anti-LGBT bathroom bill HB2 will soon be repealed.

Plus, Oregon has made history by electing Kate Brown as the first ever out state governor.
