Amy Poehler’s production company has just sold a sitcom billed as a gay take on The Odd Couple.

She’ll executive produce the new series, named Family Style, which has been ordered to pilot by US network ABC.

The show is described as “a multigenerational half-hour about two mismatched men from different cultures who find love in a family-run restaurant in Miami.”

It’s inspired by the life of Difficult People showrunner Scott King, who will co-write the pilot script along with Claudia Lonow.

This is the third show that Poehler’s production company Paper Kite has sold so far this season.

The other two are a musical comedy starring the legendary Carol Burnett, and The Baby starring Seann William Scott.

The news comes at a time when LGBT TV is riding high.

GLAAD’s latest industry report found a record number of LGBT characters in shows, while we’ve rounded up a few of our favourite LGBT-friendly series.
