Gay sitcom The Real O’Neals has kicked off with some amazing cameos.

The ABC show, loosely based on the life of outspoken gay columnist Dan Savage, features actor Noah Galvin as gay teen Kenny, dealing with his conservative Catholic mother’s reaction to his sexuality.

A clip from the show was shared this week ahead of its second-season premiere.

It features Kenny’s mother shocked at a Pride parade on TV, asking him to “tell the other” gays to “tone down” their celebrations.

Kenny quips: “Sure thing, we all know each other, so I’m just going to hop onto the rainbow bat phone and call everyone.”

A rapid-fire phone tree sees Kenny call former NSYNC star Lance Bass, explaining “my mom needs everyone to tone it down”.

Bass calls Glee star Jane Lynch, explaining: “Kenny’s mom says we need to smother the flame.”

She gets in touch with gay YouTuber Tyler Oakley, saying: “Hey, haircut, tamp it down… We’re reining in the unicorn. Tell everybody.”

Oakley decides the best way to get to all the gays at once is to call RuPaul, who confirms: “Dialling down the gay, got it.”

The show’s future was in doubt earlier this year after Galvin gave a controversial interview ragging on a number of other gay stars.
He referred to Teen Wolf Colton Haynes’ coming out interview as “f**king pussy bullshit” that is “not doing anything for the little gays but giving them more masturbation material.”

Elsewhere in the interview Galvin mocked X-Men director Bryan Singer, who has previously faced unsuccessful sexual abuse lawsuits.

Galvin had said: “Bryan Singer likes to invite little boys over to his pool and diddle them in the f**king dark of night.

“I want nothing to do with that. I think there are enough boys in L.A. that are questionably homosexual who are willing to do things with the right person who can get them in the door.”

Galvin has since apologised extensively for the remarks.
