The colourful pair received the lowest number of votes during this weekend’s show.

Bradley and Ottavio – otherwise known as Bratavio – became the first X Factor act to be eliminated this weekend, after failing to impress viewers.

The pair faced off against Saara Alto  – who recently revealed she is engaged to her female manager – with judges Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Nicole Scherzinger opting to save the Finnish songstress following a tense sing off.

Only Bratavio’s mentor, Louis Walsh, opted to save the pair, after he received a torrent of homophobic abuse after putting them through to the live shows last week.

A number of viewers – including former winner and subsequent flop Steve Brookstein – took to social media to attack Walsh’s decision, bombarding the music mogul with a series of anti-gay slurs such as “faggot” and “batty”.

However, this isn’t the first time Bratavio say they have faced homophobic abuse on television, after becoming a regular fixture on the UK’s reality TV circuit.

Following their initial X Factor success, the boys claimed they had previously been booted off another show due to their sexuality.

Back in 2014, the duo claim they were thrown off Channel 4’s Coach Trip because of “homophobic bullying” from fellow contestants.

“Bradley caught one of them having a conversation and they said, ‘Let’s get those two gays out. Let’s get the gays out next’,” Ottavio told The Sun.

“I kicked off with the producer. I said, ‘Get the series producer right now’. At the end of the day it is cheating,” he added.

Following the pair’s claims, a spokesperson for the show said that there was no evidence to substantiate their accusations.

Bradley and Ottavio have hit the headlines repeatedly during their time on the X Factor, after the pair had a very emotional row about undercooked chicken – before they had even auditioned.
