Police seek witnesses following rape and robbery in Manchester’s Gay Village
The victim was attacked by two women and one man.
A teenager was held down and raped after being robbed in a “horrendous attack” by a man and two women in Manchester’s Gay Village.
The 18-year-old female victim was attacked on Major Street – which is just a few minutes away from the city’s famous Canal Street,
The man and one of the women held her down, while the second woman robbed her. The man then raped the teen before the three fled the scene.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the attack.
“This was a horrendous attack on a young woman which has, understandably, left her extremely distressed,” Detective Inspector Dave Moores said in a statement.
“I would urge anybody who recognises the description of these three and thinks they may have seen them in the city centre area between 2am and 3am to please contact police immediately.”
The rape and robbery happened around 2.50am on 21 September.
The first woman, who helped held the victim down, is described as approximately 18 years old, mixed race with a scrawny build. She wore her hair tied in a ponytail and spoke with a local accent
The second woman – who robbed the victim as she was held down – is described as being in her early 20’s, also mixed race She too had her hair in a messy ponytail and spoke with a local accent.
The man – who held the victim down as she was robbed before raping her – is in his early 20s, white, with a a slim build and clean shaven face. He was wearing sports clothing.
