A gay charity care worker who was found dead in London’s Hyde Park may have been killed due to his sexuality, media are reporting.

Jairo Medina’s body was discovered under a tree by Speakers’ Corner in the early hours of Friday morning.

The Sun and the Evening Standard have speculated that his death may be linked to his sexuality. The Metropolitan Police says that it is investigating all lines of inquiry.

His housemate of 11 years told the London Evening Standard: “At the moment we don’t know anything at all about how he met his death.

“All we know is that his body was found in Hyde Park and he had injuries. Basically, someone had beaten him up and he was left with these severe injuries.”

He added: “I have been with the detectives ever since trying to figure out what happened.”

A police spokesman said: “We are keeping an open mind about the motive of this crime.”

Witnesses are asked to call the Metropolitan Police via the 101 service or to report information via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
