Donald Trump has been confirmed as a speaker at an evangelical anti-LGBT group’s rally – just days after controversially meeting with anti-gay activists in Orlando.

The Republican Presidential hopeful made a behind-closed-doors appearance at the ‘Rediscovering God in America’ Renewal Project event yesterday in Orlando, exactly two months after the Pulse gay club massacre in the city.

Mr Trump and Florida Senator Marco Rubio attended the event despite repeated warnings that the organisers and many of those attending the event are actively homophobic.

America Renewal Project founder David Lane, who organised the event, said he would ask Trump on how he plans to fight “homosexual totalitarianism” and gay rights “militants”.

Also present was Kim Davis’ lawyer Mat Staver- who has directly equated LGBT rights activists and paedophiles.

But fresh off of the controversies, Trump has been confirmed for yet another anti-LGBT rally – this time for the Family Research Council, which every Republican Presidential nominee of the past decade has snubbed due to its extremist views.

The FRC is listed as an active anti-LGBT hate group by extremism watchdog the Southern Poverty Law Center, with the group’s president Tony Perkins repeatedly blaming gay people for the Holocaust, claiming they will attempt another one.

Mr Perkins has made a number of extremely disturbing claims about LGBT people in the past, insisting that gays will attempt a ‘Christian Holocaust’.

He was slammed by Jewish groups after claiming that Christians are being sent to “camps”, and that soon gays are “going to start rolling out the boxcars to start hauling off Christians”

Perkins compared gays to paedophiles, saying: “While activists like to claim that paedophilia is a completely distinct orientation from homosexuality, evidence shows a disproportionate overlap between the two. It is a homosexual problem.”

He also branded the ‘It Gets Better’ anti-bullying campaign “disgusting”, saying: “It’s part of a concerted effort to recruit [kids] into that lifestyle.”

Ahead of the Supreme Court court ruling in favour of equal marriage, Perkins threatened a “revolution” in the United States over the issue.

It was already known he had ties to the Trump campaign – the Republican previously let slip that Perkins was helping write his speeches on religious issues.

A statement said: “Donald Trump will address the 11th annual gathering of the Values Voter Summit, an event that draws thousands of grassroots activists to the nation’s capital.

“Trump is scheduled to speak Friday, September 9 – just 59 days before Election Day.

“This is the first time a Republican nominee for president has addressed the Values Voter Summit since its inception in 2006. Both major party nominees have been invited to make their case to social conservative voters.”
