I Am Cait ‘cancelled after two seasons’ following ratings drop

Joe Williams August 5, 2016

Caitlyn Jenner’s reality series has reportedly been dropped due to a lack of viewers.

I Am Cait – Caitlyn Jenner’s reality show focusing on her transition and issues facing the trans community – has reportedly been axed.

The news comes after the show’s second season saw a sharp ratings drop, failing to meet channel E!’s expectations.

Following the slump, the show – which features Jenner, her famous family and a host of leading trans activists – will not be renewed for a third season, sources claim.

“There just weren’t enough viewers,” a production insider told to Radar.

“The show can’t compete with other programming.”

However, a spokesperson for E! insisted that “no decision has been made,” regarding the show’s future.

Despite this, the source says Jenner the show will not return, after Jenner failed to relate to her audience, due to her “lavish lifestyle and controversial political beliefs”.

“Caitlyn just wasn’t relatable,” the source added. “Trans viewers did not see her as one of them.”

Jenner recently refused to “give up” on the Republican Party after the party adopted a new platform that is actively hostile to LGBT people.

The former Olympian has been an outspoken Republican since before her transition and still supports the party despite GOP lawmakers pushing anti-trans laws in dozens of states.

Jenner originally supported Texas Sen. Ted Cruz for the Republican nomination before he dropped out of the race, but is yet to back current nominee Donald Trump.

In a recent interview, she defended her political stance, saying she wants to help the GOP engage with and help the LGBT community.

“Now, the Republican Party obviously is – they are not, have not, been as good when it comes to LBGT issues and social issues,” Jenner said.

“And so I have kind of positioned myself with the Republican Party, of trying to help these people kind of understand what the issues are for the LBGT community.

“And obviously, in my case, the ‘T’ portion.”
