Watch: Wands raised for Orlando victims at Harry Potter vigil

Meka Beresford June 14, 2016

Loved ones of victims that worked at Universal studios raised wands at a Harry Potter inspired vigil in Orlando today.

Luis S. Vielma and Xavier Serrano were two of the 49 people killed in the Orlando massacre on Sunday morning.

Friends and family joined together in Harry Potter World, Orlando, to raise their wands at a tribute that was reminiscent of Dumbledore’s funeral.

22 year old Vielma, described as a ‘Harry Potter nut’, worked at the Wizarding World – a Harry Potter part of the theme park.

JK Rowling posted a heartfelt message on Twitter commemorating the loss of Luis and others in the Orlando attack.

The Forbidden Journey ride that Vielma worked on has been closed to respect the loss of a Luis.

Friends that worked with Luis at the theme park raised their wands in tribute to their friend, who was described as kind and brave.

The moment is a kind nod to Dumbledore’s funeral in the Harry Potter series.

A friend of Vielma’s spoke at the tribute: “Tonight we are raising our wands to honour one of our fallen. Tonight we raise our wands to one of the greatest and best Gryffindors.”

“He was kind and he was brave. He was one of the kindest souls you will ever meet in your life.”

“Tonight we remember a son, a friend, someone who has created magic for everyone.”

Xavier Emmanuel Serrano Rosado, 35, also worked at Universal Studios and was killed in the attack. He performed in the Super Star parade and the Lion King Show in Animal Kingdom.

The vigil was one of hundreds across the globe mourning the people who were victims of the attack at Pulse, in Orlando, on Sunday morning.
