Bernie Sanders just vowed to ‘work together’ with Hillary Clinton to defeat Trump
Bernie Sanders has vowed to “work together” with Hillary Clinton to defeat Donald Trump.
The Senator spoke after a meeting in the Oval Office with President Barack Obama today.
His comments come after he said he would continue to campaign towards the Washington DC primary on Tuesday.
“I look forward to meeting with her in the near future to see how we can work together to defeat Donald Trump,” said Sanders following the meeting.
Earlier this week Obama effectively declared Hillary Clinton the winner of the Democratic primaries.
“These are some of the issues that many millions of Americans have supported during my campaign,” sad Sanders.
“These are the issues that we’ll take to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia at the end of July.”
Sanders went on to thank Obama and Vice President Joe Biden for not “putting their thumb on the scales” during the primaries.
Democratic candidate Sanders stopped off on a “Sanders Stroll” of Los Angeles county at a Western-themed gay bar for brunch with some of the locals of West Hollywood, California.

He told a crowd at a fundraiser later the same day: “The purpose of our campaign is to change national priorities.
“We should not have 47 million people living in poverty. We should not have the highest rate of childhood poverty of almost any major country on earth.”
He also stopped off at the fairground at Santa Monica Pier, and rode the merry-go-round in a tradition that has become known as the ‘Sanders Stroll’. “He likes doing it,” a representative said.
Sanders has been one of the most consistently pro-LGBT candidates. In May, Sanders attacked the Republican party and HB2 (‘Transgender Bathroom Bill’) in North Carolina.
But he previously attracted criticism for claiming that LGBT lobbying groups are part of an “establishment” conspiracy because they endorsed Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton over him.
