The rainbow buses from Brighton and London met up – on a trip to St Paul’s Cathedral.

Transport for London unveiled its specially-designed rainbow bus last year, featuring an iconic rainbow flag design and a ‘Ride with Pride’ slogan.

The idea was so popular that it caught on in Brighton too, with a second rainbow bus commissioned in the seaside gay capital.

The twin buses were together this week as part of an event which saw them visit eachother’s respective cities.

A number of drag performers were on board as the buses toured the local landmarks, from St Paul’s Cathedral to the Houses of Parliament.

Martyn Loukes BEM, Chair of Transport for London’s LGBT+ Network OUTbound, said: “It was great to see the rainbow bus off on its journey to Brighton today to mark the countdown to Pride in London 2016.

“We created our award winning #RidewithPride campaign last year to celebrate LGBT diversity at TfL and within the Capital as a whole. Since then, we’ve seen a bus, taxi and DLR train wrapped in rainbow livery.”

The bus will take part in the Pride in London parade on June 25, with bus driver Danny Dudziec driving it through the parade.

Mark Threapleton, Managing Director for Stagecoach London, said: “After the success of our bus at Pride last year, we’re delighted to be able to support the event again by taking part in this year’s parade.

“We’ve had wonderful feedback over the last 15 months from passengers and the wider public so we’re proud to be able to support the event once again and for Danny to be driving the bus.

“The rainbow bus is a travelling advertisement, spreading the message of diversity to the hearts of our communities and to visitors from across the world.”
